Each child has different strengths, interests and goals. Consequently, the Admissions process at Lockerbie College is a thoughtful exchange of information to determine whether a student will benefit from the customized programmes we provide.
We believe it is our ethical and professional responsibility to only admit those students for whom ours is the ideal learning environment.
We assist parents in their search for the most appropriate learning environment for their child.
OUR APPLICATION PROCESS IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SCHOOLS
INITIAL INTERVIEW
At our initial interview, we discuss how Lockerbie College’s mainstream inclusive learning can best benefit a prospective student and we ascertain parental involvement, academic expectations and goals. We also explain how we function as a school and what parents can expect.
We ask parents to consider all the information we share with them and to discuss it with their children after the initial interview. We also suggest prospective parents chat with current parents whose children are around the same age. We have found that this is the best way to provide a balanced picture of our ethos and efficacy as a school.
SPEND AN AUDIT DAY WITH US
A prospective student is invited to spend a couple of days auditing with us so that we can see how they learn best.
We then meet with parents again, sharing our feedback and enquiring about their child’s view of their time with us.
If we both agree that we are a good fit for each other, we invite parents to apply. We quote the fee band into which the student will fall, based on our plans to meet the student’s academic and social needs.
We may discuss a more realistic timeline for academic goals, based on our observations
SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
Once parents decide to apply to Lockerbie College, a non-refundable application fee of BDS$500.00 is payable on receipt of the Application Booklet (hard copy only).
Upon returning the Application Booklet, parents pay a deposit of BDS$1500.00 in Lieu of a Term’s Notice. This is credited to the student’s last term at Lockerbie College, providing a term’s notice of withdrawal has been given.
Now we begin planning the student’s Learning Journey in detail; customizing a programme of study which ensures all of their academic, social and emotional needs are going to be met.
